bullet In the setting of War- A teachers' guide for talking to your students

 

bullet Disaster Preparedness

The Mental Health Association in North Carolina is pleased to offer the                                                         community five educational and awareness programs for children.

These programs are designed:
bulletFor children 6 to 12 years old.
bulletTo teach appropriate strategies for positive mental health.
bulletFor use in schools, after-school programs, libraries, museums, and other children's service agencies and programs.

Program Details:

bulletEach program is approximately 30-40 minutes in length and is designed for no more than 30 children in a classroom.
bulletMHA/NC staff request that a school representative or if being held outside the school that a staff member  be present during the presentation.
bulletMHA/NC staff and volunteers are available to present this information or to assist with planning programs.

Children's Educational Programs

bullet"Growing Positive Emotions!"  Introduces children to emotions and the acceptable expression of emotions.  Targets appropriate coping techniques, specifically for anger and frustration.

 

bullet"It's Okay to be Different".  Assists children in recognizing that people are different.  Targets the elimination of stereotypes and labels.

 

bullet"Let's be friends"  Teaches appropriate communication and social skills in order to make and keep friends.  Targets acceptance of others and importance of compromise.

 

bullet"Know Me as Me"  Encourages children to be comfortable with who they are and what they look like .  Targets early prevention of eating disorders through self-acceptance and health habits.

 

bullet"We Can Work This Out"  Introduces non-aggressive interactions styles and communication skills to resolve problems.  Targets appropriate methods for dealing with conflict.
